Medical Systems Director (SoHo)

Position: Medical Systems Director
Supervisor: Chief Financial Officer

Overview: University Settlement, serving over 20,000 low-income individuals and families each year with innovative programming, and its affiliate agency, The Door, New York City's premier youth development agency, providing comprehensive services to 11,500 young people each year, seek an experienced Medical Systems Director to oversee the billing operations and medical information systems for the organizations' Article 28 and Article 31 health centers.

Responsibilities:
Maintain working knowledge of changes in healthcare delivery system and insurance regulations in NYS by attending relevant trainings, actively seeking information and representing University Settlement and The Door at joint meetings with member organizations and coalitions.
Implement and manage the day to day billing operations and of Article 28 Health Clinic and Article 31 Mental Health Clinic.
Develop policies and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Work with health center staff and physicians to ensure that the correct diagnosis and procedures are reported to Medicare/Medicaid and third party insurance.
Monitor claims for missing information and work with providers and staff to resolve all payment issues.
Work closely with the IT department to track receivables, resubmit denied claims as necessary, prepare reports for funding sources and for internal, organizational purposes and troubleshoot system software and hardware.
Prepare for and assist with health center, Medicaid and third party provider audits.
Train and oversee medical systems and billing staff and provide necessary training and guidance to the clinical staff.
Complete other relevant projects as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, medical billing certification preferred
Minimum of five years' experience working at a senior level, skilled in Accounting with Medicaid, Medicare and third-party billing
Thorough knowledge of HIPAA, CPT codes and CMS billing procedures required
Substantial knowledge and use of medical billing software and electronic health records (Accumedic and E-Clinical Works preferred)
Strong interpersonal, supervisory and analytical skills and excellent oral and written communications skills
Demonstrated ability to manage programs and staff in order to meet measurable outcomes
Willingness to provide technical instruction to medical and non-medical staff alike
Must be able to work effectively and creatively as part of an interdisciplinary team
